Entrambi si dichiarano innocenti. Il blog “Ba Sam” pubblicava articoli e saggi critici nei confronti del governo di Hanoi, ottenendo milioni di visualizzazioni. Hanoi (AsiaNews/Agenzie) – La Corte del popolo di Hanoi ha condannato il famoso dissidente cattolico e blogger Nguyen Huu Vinh a cinque anni di carcere, per aver pubblicato articoli contro lo Stato. La sua assistente Minh Thuy Thuy sconterà tre anni di prigione. Secondo il giudice, gli scritti comparsi sul blog “distorcono le linee e le politiche del Partito e la legge dello Stato, e diffamano delle persone”. Entrambi gli imputati hanno negato le accuse. Nguyen Huu Vinh, 60 anni, è un ex poliziotto e ha avuto legami in passato con il Partito comunista vietnamita. Arrestati nel maggio 2014, Huu Vinh e la sua assistente sono stati rinviati a giudizio dopo sei mesi di detenzione ingiustificata per violazione dell'articolo 258, che punisce gli “abusi di libertà e democrazia” e il “violare gli interessi dello Stato”.
Fondato nel 2007, il blog “Ba Sam” pubblicava articoli e saggi critici nei confronti del governo di Hanoi, ottenendo milioni di visualizzazioni. Lo spazio ospitava anche un forum per lanciare accuse feroci contro la politica “imperialista” di Pechino nel mar Cinese meridionale. Alla lettura della sentenza circa 200 persone hanno inscenato una protesta al di fuori della Corte. La polizia è dovuta intervenire per ristabilire l’ordine. Intervistato da Radio Free Asia, uno degli avvocati difensori ha detto che “l’accusa ha fornito prove molto deboli che sono state controbattute dagli avvocati difensori, e l’accusa non ha saputo rispondere ai nostri argomenti”. “La cosa più sorprendente del processo – ha aggiunto – è che hanno dato a Vinh cinque anni di prigione, che è quasi il massimo [per questo tipo di reato]”.
Negli anni passati, Vinh è stato anche oggetto di percosse per aver coperto con articoli e lunghe cronache i processi ai danni di attivisti pro diritti umani e gli abusi contro la comunità cattolica della capitale.
Da tempo in Vietnam è in atto una campagna durissima del governo contro dissidenti, blogger, leader religiosi (fra cui buddisti), attivisti cattolici o intere comunità. Nel 2013, nella diocesi di Vinh, media e governo hanno promosso una campagna diffamatoria e attacchi mirati contro vescovo e fedeli. La repressione colpisce anche singoli individui, colpevoli di rivendicare il diritto alla libertà religiosa e al rispetto dei diritti civili dei cittadini. Secondo il movimento attivista internazionale Human Rights Watch (Hrw) al momento vi sono fra i 150 e i 200 blogger e attivisti rinchiusi nelle carceri vietnamite, con la sola colpa di aver voluto esercitare (e difendere) diritti umani fondamentali.

La repressione colpisce anche singoli individui, colpevoli di rivendicare il diritto alla libertà religiosa e al rispetto dei diritti civili dei cittadini.
